Dr Nikki Elkerton

Dr Nikki Elkerton

Nikki is a graduate of the University of Tasmania and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

Nikki worked for 13 years as a general practitioner in Tasmania and the United Kingdom and in that time developed a special interest in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer. Nikki completed certificates in skin cancer management and dermatoscopy through the Skin Cancer College Australasia (SCCA), and began assisting a plastic surgeon in plastic and reconstructive surgery to learn more about skin cancer surgery, particularly the use of skin flaps and skin grafts. Since 2010, Nikki has worked full-time in the area of skin cancer treatment.

Nikki has achieved a Diploma of Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery from the Skin Cancer College Australasia and is continuing to study. Nikki is involved in teaching GPs dermatoscopy and skin cancer management.

Nikki uses a holistic approach to the management of skin cancers, involving evidence-based preventative medicine, along with non-surgical and surgical treatments as indicated.

Dr Amy O’Brien

Dr Amy O’Brien

Dr Amy O’Brien graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2000. She spent many years working in both Australia and the UK before returning to Melbourne to commence General Practice training in 2007. Amy and her husband returned to Hobart in 2009 to raise their young family.

Amy is a GP with a special interest in skin and skin cancer medicine, and has worked in skin cancer clinics since 2011. This work involves skin checks using imaging technology – making it possible to photograph and monitor lesions of concern. Amy is also able to manage malignant and premalignant skin conditions. Amy has developed an interest in aesthetic medicine, including the use of lasers, anti-wrinkle injections and sclerotherapy (injection therapy for varicose veins).

Amy is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and a member of the Australian College of Phlebology (ACP) and the Skin Cancer College Australasia (SCCA).

Louise Bardwell, Practice Manager

Practice Manager Louise Bardwell

Louise has worked in the health industry for over 20 years. She has held a variety of positions in Tasmanian hospitals and specialist practices. Since 2006 she has worked in the plastic and reconstructive area as Practice Manager. She delivers service with compassion and quality care to our patients.

Sally Walters, Practice Nurse

Practice Nurse Sally Walters

Sally is a Registered Nurse with experience working in operating theatres as well as cosmetic surgery. She assists the doctors with surgical procedures, post operative appointments and performs PDT treatments. Her caring and cheerful nature ensures our patients have the best experience possible at our clinic.

Janelle is a Registered Nurse with over 20 years’ experience in many different areas of nursing. She enjoys being part of the Macquarie Skin Cancer Clinic collaborative team assisting patients to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Karen Devine, Medical Administration

Karen has a solid health background, having worked at the Royal Hobart Hospital for more than 25 years in administrative roles. She is committed to providing quality service to our patients.

Neika Medwin, Medical Administration

Neika has worked in a variety of medical roles since 2006 including working in plastic and reconstructive practices since 2014. She brings enthusiasm and commitment to patient care.

Melissa comes from the aesthetic industry as well as various roles in customer service. She brings passion and enthusiasm to patients together with her aesthetic experience to the practice.
